Professional Carbon Dating Services

Beta’s top priorities – Accurate Results, Fast Turnaround, and Customer Care

Accuracy and Quality Assurance

The United States Geological Survey and Department of Energy audits our Quality Assurance Program annually; we are the only professional radiocarbon dating laboratory that is "QA Qualified" for work at sensitive USGS and DOE sites. We also participate in all recognized International Radiocarbon Intercalibration Studies, such as IAEA, TIRI, FIRI, and VIRI.

Deliver Results on Time

You will obtain results on our quoted delivery date, which will depend upon the delivery service you choose – ranging from 2 to 3 working days to 20 to 25 working days. Your choices for delivery services of carbon 14 dating results are:

STANDARD AMS - Delivery within 20-25 working days or less

ADVANCE AMS - Delivery within 14 working days or less

PRIORITY AMS - Delivery within 6 working days or less

TIME-GUIDE AMS - Delivery within 2-3 working days (prior contact required)

accelerator mass spectrometer
We use Accelerator Mass Spectrometry (AMS) Analysis for smaller samples (with as little as 100 micrograms of final carbon) and Radiometric Analysis for larger samples (containing 2 to 4 grams final carbon). These two radiocarbon dating methods are equally accurate for optimal sized samples, but AMS will always provide better precision. Radiometric dating is lower in cost (about half the cost of an AMS date), but AMS needs smaller sample size and has higher precision. Delivery options for both carbon 14 dating services are the same.

Prompt Response to Inquiries

Someone is always available to respond to your radiocarbon dating inquiries and concerns during normal working hours, from Mondays thru Fridays, 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM EST.

You are always welcome to contact us before and after sample submittals to discuss your needs, concerns, and questions about carbon 14 dating. We take your inquiries on radiocarbon very seriously, and we will always strive to promptly address your needs.

Darden Hood, Beta’s president, is always available to discuss your needs and considers it as his highest priority to clarify any unclear radiocarbon dating concepts.
