Beta Analytic Supports Conference of Women Archaeologists Working in South Asia

Wednesday, August 24th, 2011

Andrew Pal, Beta Analytic’s head of India operations, has participated in the First Annual Conference of the International Association for Women Archaeologists Working in South Asia (IAWAWSA). The conference was held at Jawaharlal Nehru University in New Delhi, India, from August 22 to August 24, 2011.

“It was an excellent conference with 15-20 senior scholars and around 100 students in attendance. I’ve met some current clients working on the archaeology of South Asia. Many local archaeologists, however, aren’t aware that Beta Analytic already has a sample forwarding office in New Delhi. Attending conferences like this allows us to introduce our local facility and at the same time be updated of the ongoing archaeological researches in the region,” Mr. Pal says.

She has been conducting archaeological research in South Asia since 1985. Also in attendance was Dr. Parth R. Chauhan of the Stone Age Institute (USA), who facilitated a workshop on stone tools and various aspects of Paleolithic archaeology and lithic studies.

The 1st IAWAWSA Annual Conference on the Archaeology of South Asia was co-sponsored and hosted by the Archaeology Forum, Center for Historical Studies of Jawaharlal Nehru University.
