			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Beta Analytic is one of the sponsors of this year&#8217;s Interdisciplinary Forum on Human Origins: Behavior, Environment and Technology (HOBET) currently held in Liverpool, UK. The three-day event hosted by the University of Liverpool&#8217;s Department of Archaeology, Classics, and Egyptology ends January 28, 2012. <span id="more-825"></span></p>
<p>Themes for this year&#8217;s conference include: (a) Human evolution in Europe: <a href="http://www.radiocarbon.com/archaeology.htm" alt="Archaeology" title="Archaeology">Archaeology</a> and behavior, (b) Cognition and language, (c) African palaeoclimate and geochronology, (d) Lithic analysis and the origins of early technology, (e) Faunal exploitation strategies in the palaeolithic, and (f) Human responses to climate change: demography, migration, and symbolism. </p>
<p>HOBET was created by five leading UK research institutions specializing in the study of the archaeology of human origins. The forum aims to bring together academics from archaeology, anthropology, geography, environmental sciences, evolutionary psychology, anatomy, and the biological sciences to discuss and debate key issues concerning the origin of the Homo sapiens.</p>
<p>Aside from the University of Liverpool, the other founding institutions include the University of Sheffield, Cambridge University, Oxford University, and the University of Southampton. The founding institutions take turns in hosting HOBET each year featuring sessions that reflect their research interests. The 2013 HOBET will be hosted by Cambridge University.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Archaeologists, classicists, art historians, epigraphers, and anthropologists from US, Canada, and 35 other countries convened in Philadephia, Pennsylvania, for the 113th Annual Meeting of the Archaeological Institute of America (AIA). The 2012 annual meeting was held on January 5 to January 8 contemporaneous with the 143rd Annual Meeting for the American Philological Association (APA). The AIA annual meeting was previously held in Philadelphia in 2009 with 2,800 conference guests. <span id="more-814"></span></p>
<p>As one of the largest and oldest established gathering of classical scholars and archaeologists, this year&#8217;s meeting featured more than 200 events including academic sessions and workshops, presidential plenary sessions, and professional development sessions, e.g. session on obtaining funding for research and a workshop on publishing strategies. The  AIA Archaeology Fair was also held for members of the public and conference attendees and their families. </p>
<p>ISO 17025-accredited Beta Analytic has joined this year&#8217;s annual meeting as an advertiser with a full-page ad in the meeting program to promote its <a href="http://www.radiocarbon.com/beta-radiocarbon-lab.htm" alt="radiocarbon dating lab's" title="radiocarbon dating lab's">radiocarbon dating lab&#8217;s</a> faster services. 			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Members of the Society for Historical Archaeology from around the world have gathered in Baltimore, Maryland, for their 45th Annual Conference on Historical and Underwater Archaeology. The five-day event started on January 4, 2012, and was held at the Marriott Waterfront. <span id="more-812"></span></p>
<p>With the theme &#8220;By the Dawn’s Early Light: Forging Identity, Securing Freedom, and Overcoming Conflict,&#8221; this year&#8217;s annual meeting included a symposia, forums and general sessions, the Plenary Session, workshops, organized tours,  the Public Archaeology Event, an Opening Night Reception, the SHA Business Meeting, Pre-Awards Banquet Cocktail Hour, Awards Ceremony , and Silent Auction, among others. The 2012 annual conference keynote speaker was Mr. Eamonn P. Kelly, Keeper of Irish Antiquities at the National Museum of Ireland.</p>
<p>The SHA annual conference is held every January. The 2013 conference is slated to take place in Leicester, UK.</p>
<p>ISO 17025-accredited Beta Analytic has joined the 2012 SHA annual conference as an advertiser. Its full-page ad in the meeting program promotes its <a href="http://www.radiocarbon.com/beta-AMS-lab.htm" alt="AMS" title="AMS">AMS</a> dating lab&#8217;s improved services to SHA members who need a fast turnaround time. <h2>About the SHA</h2>
<p>Formed in 1967, the Society for Historical Archaeology (SHA) is scholarly group concerned with the archaeology of the modern world (A.D. 1400-present). The society is specifically concerned with the identification, excavation, interpretation, and conservation of sites and materials on land and underwater. The SHA&#8217;s journal, Historical Archaeology, publishes articles on cultural identity and ethnicity, the archaeological expressions of cultural landscapes, theoretical applications to historic sites, major site excavations, material culture, and other topics, from both terrestrial and nautical sites.</p>

Payments can be sent to Xiamen Beco Green Carbon Import/Export Co., Ltd. <span id="more-810"></span></p>
<p>Since late 2009, the ISO 17025-accredited lab has maintained a presence in China through its sample forwarding facility in Beijing. Clients, however, were billed through the US office. Beta Analytic is based in Miami, Florida.</p>
<p>&#8220;For the convenience of our clients and for faster payment processing, we are providing clients the option to be billed in RMB through Xiamen Beco. Right now, we can only accept samples at our Beijing office. We&#8217;re still setting up a system for Xiamen Beco to receive samples and forward them to the Miami lab, but soon clients may send their samples either to Beijing or Xiamen,&#8221; says Beta Analytic’s China Operations Manager Fuming &#8220;Steven&#8221; Liu.</p>
