Beta Analytic Attends European Geosciences Union 2010 General Assembly

ISO 17025-accredited Beta Analytic, Inc., was a featured exhibitor at the European Geosciences Union’s 2010 General Assembly to be held in Vienna, Austria, from May 2 to May 7, 2010. The company’s booth was located in the Exhibition Entrance Hall (Booth #47). Ron Hatfield, one of the directors of Beta Analytic, attended the event.

The EGU General Assembly aims to bring together geoscientists from different disciplines of Earth, Planetary, and Space Sciences. More than 8,000 people around the world were expected to join this year’s meeting.

Founded in 1979, Beta Analytic has provided professional radiocarbon dating services to archaeologists and geoscientists for many years. The company is the first ISO 17025-accredited radiocarbon dating lab in the world.

Radiocarbon Dating for Geoscientists

Geoscientists use radiocarbon dating to determine the age of plant and animal matter, rocks, sediments, groundwater, and even carbon dioxide trapped in ice. The method has proved to be valuable to researchers of the Quaternary period. While archaeologists use radiocarbon dating as a tool to find out the age of certain artifacts, geologists use the method to discover the history of the Earth.
