Beta Analytic Continues Excellence, Extends ISO 17025 Accreditation

Miami, FL – January 25, 2010 – Beta Analytic, Inc. has recently received its ISO/IEC 17025: 2005 testing re-accreditation. Beta Analytic’s renewal of its accreditation reflects its firm commitment to provide high quality radiocarbon dating services.

“The universal recognition of our ISO 17025 testing accreditation by other laboratories, governmental agencies, and regulatory bodies has greatly assisted our development of new business. Within the United States, our ISO accreditation has been accepted as a replacement of our long-standing Quality Assurance Program overseen by the US Departments of Energy and Geological Survey for work at Yucca Mountain, one of the most scientifically important and politically controversial projects ever undertaken,” says Ron Hatfield, Deputy Director and Quality Manager of Beta Analytic.

Since 1979, Beta Analytic has been a dedicated professional radiocarbon dating laboratory. It was the first to provide accurate radiocarbon measurements in a timely manner to the research community worldwide. The company is now the world’s largest radiocarbon dating services provider.  Its results are quoted in more scientific papers, technical journals, and cultural resource management and industrial reports than any other radiocarbon dating lab.

Beta Analytic’s ISO 17025-Accredited Lab

Beta Analytic provides radiocarbon measurements by both the AMS (Accelerator Mass Spectrometry) and radiometric (Liquid Scintillation Counting) techniques. The company is the only radiocarbon dating lab to achieve ISO 17025 testing accreditation for all areas of radiocarbon measurements. It is also the only carbon dating lab to routinely report analytical results in as little as three business days for researchers in the archaeological, geological, groundwater, carbon dioxide emissions, biobased products, and biofuel industries.

Recognized as the world leader for radiocarbon and groundwater dating, Beta Analytic based in Miami, Florida provides scientific expertise and professional client service through a network of offices and representatives in London, U.K.; Nagoya, Japan; and Beijing, China.

By virtue of its ISO 17025 accreditation, the Beta Analytic lab is also ISO 9001:2008 conformant as confirmed by the International Accreditation Forum (IAF) and the International Laboratory Accreditation Cooperation (ILAC) in their joint communiqué with the ISO regarding the general requirements for the competence of testing and calibration labs.
